Physiotherapy Services
What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is a proven, evidence-based main stream health profession. Physiotherapists are University degree qualified health professionals who assess, diagnose and treat conditions in order to maximise the potential of people of all ages throughout their lifespan. Physiotherapists take a preventative approach to treatment goals via ‘hands on’ treatment, exercise prescription, rehabilitation, injury prevention and health promotion.
As Health Professionals with extensive and rigorous training, we are committed to the application, evaluation and review of the evidence that underpins our professional practice and our service delivery. This exercise of clinical judgment and informed interpretation is at the core of evidence-based health service.

Musculoskeletal and Sports Physiotherapy
Musculoskeletal physiotherapy is the treatment of musculoskeletal (muscle and joint) conditions of the body. Physiotherapists practicing in this sub-speciality of physiotherapy have undertaken additional training in the form of lectures, research, literature reviews and even Master’s degree qualifications. They are experts in the assessment, diagnosis and effective treatment of patients with musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. This broad range of knowledge of body structures and functions enables them to reach an accurate physical diagnosis, and also to plan and implement appropriate treatment and rehabilitation programs.
Sports Physiotherapy is the specialised branch of physiotherapy which deals with injuries and issues related sports people. Sports injuries differ to everyday injuries. Athletes require high level performance and place a large demand on their body. Sometimes this results in injuries. Sports physiotherapist help athletes recover from sporting injuries, and provide education, management and preventative strategies to recover and regain peak performance.
At Physio Noosa, we have physiotherapists with special interests in these fields of treatment. Our therapists have a professional and personal interest in a variety of sports people including endurance running, tennis, equestrian sports and body building. Who better to treat sports injuries than health professionals who are sports people themselves!

Pelvic Floor physiotherapy is a sub speciality practice of physiotherapy requiring additional expert qualifications. Physiotherapists working in this field treat bladder and bowel control problems such as frequency, urgency and leaking and pelvic floor dysfunction. Additional problems such as pelvic organ prolapse, painful scarring after childbirth or surgery and pre/post natal musculoskeletal problems are also treated by Pelvic Floor Physiotherapists.
Rehabilitation of pelvic floor dysfunction and other issues such as lumbopelvic instabilities and back pain are treated by physiotherapists and exercise physiologists who have attained additional qualifications and training in this very delicate field. Physio Noosa provides treatment in private consultations rooms for men, women and children with these problems and all information is treated in the strictest confidence. A referral is not necessary to begin treatment, however review by a Specialist Gynaecologist/Obstetrician/Urologist or General Practitioner is often valuable and this can be arranged by your specialist physiotherapist.
